Highlights From ACCC

Danelle Johnston, MSN, RN, HON-ONN-CG, OCN, and Tricia Strusowski, RN, MS, recapped their recent presentation from the ACCC 46th Annual Meeting & Cancer Center Business Summit, in which they discussed the National Evidence-Based Oncology Navigation Metrics: Multisite Exploratory Study to Demonstrate Value and Sustainability of Navigation Programs. The study was launched in June 2018 as a collaborative effort between the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+), Chartis Oncology Solutions, and the American Cancer Society (ACS).


Immunotherapy is one of the hottest concepts in oncology care. Also called biologic therapy, this type of cancer treatment boosts the body’s own natural defenses to fight cancers.


Cancer costs are rising, but the implementation of evidence-based quality improvement strategies in early-stage breast cancer care can reduce costs and improve patient quality of life, according to Angie Meillier, RN, MS, from Abbott Northwestern Piper Breast Center in Minneapolis, MN.

Tricia Strusowski recently gave a presentation on the AONN+ Standardized Metrics to a captivated audience at the Association of Community Cancer Centers.

At the 2017 Association of Community Cancer Centers Annual Meeting, Tricia Strusowski, RN, MS, Manager, Oncology Solutions, LLC, and project lead of the AONN+ Standardized Metrics Task Force, discussed how the newly released AONN+ Navigation Metrics can be incorporated into partnerships between oncology patient navigators and physician practices.
