As a member of AONN+, you have heard AONN+ leadership speak to the importance of program metrics. While it seems rather obvious to say that navigators should measure their impact on their respective cancer programs, there are still many questions around the best approach to implement metrics.
During the past 25 years, oral antineoplastic agents have increasingly become a primary form of treatment for many types of cancers, ranging from traditional cytotoxic therapies to targeted therapy for specific genetic mutations.
What makes an effective navigation program? Intrinsically, you know the answer to this question. But practically, it can be difficult to prove effectiveness. Unless, of course, you have the right tools.
CHS offers a vast network of care locations that include outpatient, surgical and rehabilitation centers, physician practices, behavioral health, occupational health, home care, a medically based fitness center, as well as the Community Cancer Research Foundation and the Cancer Resource Centre.
The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, the oldest survivor-led cancer advocacy organization, created the widely accepted definition of survivorship and defines someone as a cancer survivor from the time of diagnosis and for the balance of life.
