My Favorite Time of the Year!

Congratulations to the authors of original navigation research accepted to the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) Annual Conference!

October 2023 Vol 14, No 10

Knowledge is priceless, and this issue of the Journal of Oncology Navigation & Survivorship with its compilation of abstracts is a gem of a contribution to the ever-evolving field of oncology navigation! It is exciting to see the “boots on the ground” creativity and application of know-how to enhance everyday practice.

When it comes to quality improvement projects within the oncology navigation setting, this publication should be a primary tool to learn what others have done to work around a barrier, improve a care process, or raise the patient satisfaction score. Our devotion to navigation research is not limited to this issue; we encourage you to explore our archive of original navigation research on our site (2022 AONN+ Annual Conference).

You will find the depth and rigor of original navigation research is not completed in a silo by one navigator. The initiatives presented here include an interprofessional healthcare team that has been empowered to contribute to the process of developing best care practices. I am confident you will be inspired by the work and dedication of your peers—inspired by their shared experiences and the potential to implement new tactics to improve patient care.

On behalf of AONN+, I extend my congratulations to each and every author whose research abstract was accepted to the 2023 AONN+ Annual Conference; you have demonstrated leadership among navigators! This display of expertise is important for the success and future development of oncology navigation as a profession. The contribution to navigation sustainability provides guidance and purpose, and helps others understand approaches to enhance their professional practice.

That's My Take.
