Memphis, TN—One of the most popular breakout sessions at the Fourth Annual Conference of the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) focused on breast cancer navigation and survivorship. This session featured 2 speakers, Karen Meneses, PhD, RN, FAAN, and Vinnie Myers, a tattoo artist.

I do not think my situation is unique. I live in a large city with horrendous healthcare. If you do not live in such a city, you may not believe that I live in the United States.

Advances in cancer care and treatment have led to excellent success in the “fight against cancer.” Millions of lives have been saved through the use of more targeted treatments and medications.

Patients with cancer face many challenges, including eating well to maintain a good nutritional status and avoid weight loss and malnutrition.

At the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) Fourth Annual Conference in November, one outstanding nurse was recognized by her peers for her dedication and commitment to the profession. The 2013 ONE Award winner was Libby Daniels, RN, OCN, from Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, South Carolina.
