Dear Navigators, Social Workers, Administrators, and Clinical Staff,
With this letter, I want to share some news with you. I have made the decision to reduce my time commitment to the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) and transition my role as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Oncology Navigation & Survivorship (JONS) to my friend and AONN+ program director, Sharon S. Gentry, MSN, RN, HON-ONN-CG, AOCN, CBCN. Although I am stepping down as Editor-in-Chief, I am very happy to let you know, I will remain a part of the JONS Editorial Board.
What a tremendous experience it has been for me to see the evolution of oncology nurse navigation over the course of my career. I feel quite fortunate to have been a part of it and to have served you through my work in AONN+ and the many initiatives we sponsored to advance the cause of navigation.
It is my absolute pleasure and honor to pass the baton to Sharon. I’m sure most of you are familiar with Sharon and her tireless commitment to JONS and AONN+. As the program director of AONN+, Sharon is an expert speaker, mentor, and strategist for the academy. She will continue to chair the AONN+ Leadership Council and represent AONN+ on the Commission on Cancer.
The AONN+ Blog currently features a miniseries entitled “Get Connected With Your AONN+ Leadership Team.” The first edition of the miniseries happens to highlight Sharon. I invite you to click the link to get to know Sharon a little better.
Before I sign off, I want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for allowing me to serve you and for your participation in the AONN+ mission.
Sincerely,

Lillie D. Shockney, RN, BS, MAS, HON-ONN-CG
