Julie K. Silver, MD, is an associate professor at Harvard Medical School in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Silver is on the Leadership Council for the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators, and has written numerous scientific papers on cancer rehabilitation, prehabilitation, and survivorship care. She is also an award-winning author. She coedited her latest book, Will My Cancer Come Back? Staying Healthy After Treatment, published by the American Cancer Society. Other books that she has published include After Cancer Treatment: Heal Faster, Better, Stronger (Johns Hopkins Press) and What Helped Get Me Through: Cancer Survivors Share Wisdom and Hope (American Cancer Society).

Dr. Silver developed the STAR Program certification, which is an evidence-based and best practices model for cancer rehabilitation care that has been adopted by hundreds of hospitals throughout the United States. She is a founding co-chair of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine’s Cancer Rehabilitation Group. Her work in cancer rehabilitation has been recognized by the American Cancer Society (Lane Adams Quality of Life Award), Massachusetts General Hospital (the one hundred), The Boston Globe (Top Innovator in Medicine), and Susan G. Komen Foundation (Local Hero). Dr. Silver is currently on the medical staff at Spaulding Rehabilitation, Massachusetts General, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Her work has been featured in many media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, USA Today, The Times of London, and NPR.
