We are into the final countdown with just a few weeks before our Sixth Annual Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) Conference in Atlanta!

This issue of the Journal of Oncology Navigation & Survivorship (JONS) provides a preview of the posters that will be on display and presented at the conference. This year we have a total of 54 abstracts, each with a specific focus on the navigation or survivorship care process. The categories for the abstracts are:

  • Category I: Patient Education
  • Category II: Psychological Support
  • Category III: Quality, Outcomes, and Performance Improvement
  • Category IV: Original Research on Navigation Programs
  • Category V: Original Research on Survivorship Programs
  • Category VI: Community Outreach and Screening Programs

Each abstract is also a candidate for expanding its content and being considered for a future issue of JONS. We invite you to consider submission of a full-length research or review article based on your abstract for potential publication in JONS.

We will introduce the poster presentation winners by category in an upcoming issue of JONS. I hope you will be present at the conference this year to personally congratulate the winners with me.

As you read through these informative abstracts, give thought to how you may use this new information and knowledge so that, perhaps, it could be applied in your specific navigation and survivorship program. There is no benefit in reinventing the wheel! I also hope that this will trigger you to consider submitting an abstract of your own for next year’s AONN+ conference.

Mark your calendars now! The Seventh Annual AONN+ Conference will take place November 16-20, 2016, in Las Vegas, NV.

Finally, in this issue you will also find 4 profiles of this year’s Oncology Nurse Excellence (ONE) Award nominees, who have been chosen for their remarkable contributions to oncology nursing practice, patient care, research, and education in 2015. The winner will be announced at this year’s AONN+ conference.

I hope to see you in October in Atlanta at this year’s AONN+ conference. We have a great lineup of speakers, very innovative and thought-provoking presentations, and networking opportunities for everyone. Please make a point of coming over to me and introducing yourself!

With kind regards,

Lillie Digital Signature
