Dear Colleague,

I enthusiastically write to you today regarding our Second Annual Navigation and Survivorship Conference, the official national meeting of the Academy of Oncology Nurse Navigators (AONN). In this issue, we are proud to present the abstracts from the meeting and offer our congratulations to their authors.

As a member of the Leadership Council for AONN, the organization is near and dear to my heart as is the annual conference. I truly believe in the power of live meetings as a way to stay connected to others in the navigation field. Such face-toface opportunities also energize attendees (including me) by hearing about innovative ways we can enhance our navigator roles to benefit the patients we serve. There is strength in our numbers; the meeting and exchanging of ideas and best practices is invaluable toward our goal of optimizing our ability to care for our oncology patients. The many thought-provoking as well as inspiring presentations are all relevant to your practice. I encourage all of you to be active in the Academy.

Weren’t able to join us in San Antonio? We will publish proceedings from the meeting in our December 2011 issue. Want to be more connected? Be sure to follow our conversations on our website: www.AONNonline.org.

On behalf of all of us at AONN and the Journal of Oncology Navigation & Survivorship, we consider it an honor to provide the place where your research, operations management methods, ideas, opinions, and reactions are presented collectively, focusing on oncology navigation and survivorship. We truly appreciate your contributions and comments—keep ’em coming!

With best regards,

Lillie D. Shockney, RN, BS, MAS
