Letters from Lillie
2020. So much has happened, and at the same time so much didn’t happen.
In these pages, we are proud to present the research abstracts submitted by your peers to the 11th AONN+ Annual Navigation & Survivorship Conference.
Did you attend our virtual Midyear Conference in May? It was an incredible event! At first, the thought of switching our usual in-person conference to a virtual one was a bit disappointing to me. But there were several elements of that experience that made the virtual conference one of my all-time favorites.
Congratulations to AONN+ FFL for earning ANAB national accreditation for the Oncology Nurse Navigator–Certified Generalist (ONN-CG) and the Oncology Patient Navigator–Certified Generalist (OPN-CG) certifications.
Have you ever attended a cyber conference? Think a virtual experience can’t compare to the real thing? Well, many AONN+ members attended our Midyear Virtual Conference this past May, myself included. I have to say, it was an amazing, engaging, and rewarding experience. But don’t just take my word for it. We polled attendees after the 2020 Midyear Virtual Conference. Here are some of the results.
We are living in a time that is filled with multiple challenges. I want to bring
to your attention that the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators
(AONN+) has created a virtual toolkit of information for our membership regarding
the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) has heard from many of its members working on the front lines of cancer care about the impact of COVID-19 on their practice.
COVID-19 continues to dominate the news, the planet, and our lives. While many
people are successfully able to socially distance, healthcare workers are on the front lines
of the COVID-19 crisis or maintaining their usual clinical responsibilities in a new and
most unusual environment.
At the time I am writing this, we are in an unprecedented situation with
COVID-19 declared a global pandemic. As healthcare professionals, we have an
obligation to help our patients understand the risks and the ways in which they can
avoid contracting COVID-19.
This May 14-17, our navigation community will gather in Baltimore, MD, for the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) Midyear Conference. And it just wouldn’t be the same without you!
